Mafra

The National Palace is the grand attraction in the town of Mafra. It has one of the most beautiful libraries in the world. The story of the Convent/Palace was immortalised in "Memorial do Convento", a romance by the Literature Nobel Prize Winner, José Saramago. Also around Mafra lies the Tapada Nacional, with extensive wildlife, certainly worthy of a visit.
